Andres Patrick Forero:

Andres Patrick Forero is one of the leading young drummers on the jazz scene today. He has been captivating audiences with his natural talent and advanced techniques since the age of five. His masterful approach to the drums has attracted such artists as Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Gadd, and Gregory Hines. He has also performed with other artists such as Byron Stripling, Jon Faddis, Danilo Perez, Ron Carter, Claudio Roditi, Bill Cosby, Savion Glover, Tito Punte, John Benitez, Giovanni Hidalgo, and Dave Valentine.

Forero has won several awards such as the Downbeat Award for best up and coming drummer, and the Eastman School of Music Outstanding Musician Award. He received a full scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music. Forero has been written about in Modern Drummer, JazzIz, Jazz Times, Down Beat, and Hispanic Magazine. At the age of 17, Forero wrote a piece of music for the legendary percussionist Max Roach, which received national acclaim. Forero can often be seen playing with Afro-Rican trombonist William Cepeda and the Afro-Rican Jazz Ensemble or plying with pianist Hector Martignon. On February 1, 2000, The Commission Project and Meet the Composer commissioned legendary Cuban composer Tania Leon to write a piece specifically for Patrick. Leon and Forero will premier the piece in 2001.

Forero maintains a unique voice in the world of music. It is with this voice that he seeks to redefine drumming and enhance its accessibility in the years to come.
