Pine

• Light weight makes this wood very "playable"
• Nice warm tone
• Moderate to long sustain, especially in the low end

Maple

• Powerful projection, crisp high end response
• Clear, even bass tone at all volumes
• Very strong open tones

Mahogany

• Dark, powerful low end, even at low volumes
• Long, clear sustain
• Very even response throughout the range

Ash

• Powerful projection, with lots of cutting power
• Shorter, sharper decay providing greater punch with less effort
• Tremendous clarity throughout the tuning ranges, and at all volumes Siam

Oak

• Highly durable wood
• A warm sound similar to Mahogany with a bit of the punch of Maple
• A very efficient wood in translating the "stroke" to "sound"
